The first model was popularised by Dick Beckhard (Beckhard and Harris, 1987) and is based on the simple formula:
C = (DVF) > R
Where:
C = possible change
D = Dissatisfaction with the status quo
V = Vision to be achieved
F = First Steps to be taken
R = Resistance to change
